Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get my tile and grout cleaned

For a 300 square-foot area, cleaning generally takes 1 to 3 hours. If you choose to have the grout sealed by applying a urethane finish, we recommend waiting 24 hours after rinsing to apply sealer so the sealer will adhere properly. Grout sealing itself takes two to three hours. Time varies based on tile size, the amount of soil in the grout and room configuration.

How do I prepare for a carpet clean?

How to Help Us Help You Save Money?

Okay … you’ve accepted the fact that a professional steam cleaning company has the equipment, know-how and experience to do a faster and better job than you could ever hope to do yourself. But how can you save money when using a professional carpet cleaning service?

By helping your carpet cleaner to be more efficient by doing whatever you can to help minimize the time they spend. What follows is a list of things you can do to help your upholstery and carpet cleaning company get in and get the job done as quickly as possible. Make a note of any stains or problem areas that you will need to point out to us when we arrive. This is a good time to see if additional areas need cleaning too. It is cheaper for you to add these areas while we’re there than it is to return to clean them later. Pick up any toys or clothes from the floor. Any small pieces of furniture such as dining room chairs, magazine racks, etc. that you can remove from the carpet to be cleaned will shorten processing time and return the carpet to normal use sooner. Move lamps or other breakables in rooms we’re cleaning. For your pets peace of mind, please put them in a safe place where our cleaning will not disturb them. Like most steam cleaning companies, we do not move heavy and expensive furniture such as china cabinets, book shelves and entertainment centers, as well as antique and fragile furniture. If you require carpet underneath this type of furniture to be cleaned, you have 2 options: Either you will need to remove this furniture from the room before we arrive. OR we can hand clean around the base of these items, or even underneath, if there is sufficient room available. Having a plan for such items and discussing your needs and preferences with us before our preliminary inspection can help save a lot of time! You can also save on your carpet cleaning by vacuuming all areas to be cleaned. If you need to move furniture out to vacuum underneath, please place it back exactly where it belongs so as not to cover the traffic area next to, or in front of the furniture that needs to be cleaned. We need to clearly identify high traffic areas during the pre-inspection and that is not possible if you have moved the furniture onto that area. As long as the furniture does not fall into the heavy and expensive class of items previously discussed, we will be happy to move it, clean under it, and then replace it. Also we pre-spray the traffic ways first then move furniture onto that area, this gives the cleaning agents more time to do its work and help insure optimum results! Please leave plastic “tabs” and “blocks” under your furniture for 24 hours after cleaning. If possible, leave the parking spot closest to your front door open so that we can more easily get our equipment into the house. If you need to cancel or move your appointment, please try to give us at least 48 hours notice so that we may refill your appointment time. Most importantly, if there is anything we can do to make this experience a better one for you, please let us know. As mentioned previously, having a clear plan and discussing it with us before our preliminary inspection can insure we are all “on the same page”, so that everything gets done to your satisfaction. And anything you can do move furniture out of the way, pre-vacuum, or perform any of the other tips mentioned above will help us do a better job more quickly … and save you money!

How long until the carpet is dry?

The carpet will be touch damp for an hour after the clean. Ideally, avoid heavy traffic and keep children and pets off the carpet for at least 64hours after cleaning. If you must walk across the carpet to get to another part of the house, do it 30 minutes after cleaning it by removing your shoes and wearing a pair of clean white socks to protect the carpet.

Will the carpet shrink?

Some carpets may be prone to shrinkage. However, we have many years’ experience and can spot the fibres within a carpet which may cause this. We can then take preventative measures, so you don’t need to worry. If necessary, we may refuse a job and there will be no charge for our assessment or any call out charge.

How long will it take to clean my carpets and upholstery?

We can give you some estimates, but it will vary, depending on the degree of soiling and stains: Approximately one and a half hours for a three-bedroom house. About an hour for a hall, stairs, landing and a lounge About an hour for a three-piece suite As we use the latest technology, our turnaround times are fast, ensuring that you can use your office or your home as quickly as possible.

Will hot water extraction (steam cleaning) damage my carpet?

No, not at all. Hot water extraction is the preferred method of Shaw Industries and of many other major carpet manufacturers. It is generally considered the best method of removing embedded dirt and other contaminants.

Do I have to hoover before you arrive?

We’d recommend that you give your carpets a quick vacuum the day before, especially if there is a lot of dust, fluff or larger particles on your carpets, as this may block the filters in our machines.

When carpets are flooded due to burst pipes, washing machine or radiator problems, what should I do?

Don’t panic, keep calm and give us a call for advice. We are DEFINITELY HERE TO HELP!

How often should I have my carpets cleaned?

Cleaning carpets regularly is important if you have asthma, allergies, or other health issues. IICRC recommends a professional cleaning every 6 to 12 months, depending on the level of soiling and whether there are children or pets on the premises.

Why hire a professional when I can do it myself?

No two carpets are the same when soiled. A professional has the knowledge, training, expertise, and equipment needed for each situation. They will determine the correct procedure and technique for multiple carpet and upholstery fabric care and complete the task professionally and efficiently. Most rental machines are unable to provide the superior cleaning you will get from professional equipment. They cannot reach the required high temperature or vacuum strength, and the cleaning product will either be inferior or unable to perform as needed with these machines. Additionally, excess moisture and soap residues remain in the carpet, leading to problems such as bacteria, microbes, and mold growth. Professional cleaning removes the residues and your carpet dries very quickly.

Do you guarantee that you will be able to remove all stains?

The type of stain, the use of consumer-based stain removers, the length of time it has been there, and the type of carpet fibre all affect stain removal results. We are able to remove most stains but, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that they will always come out. We will do what it takes to get the best results, and chances are that if we can’t remove the stain, nobody can.

Why Should Tile And Grout Be Professionally Cleaned, Rather Than Just Using A Common Household Cleaning Solution?

As with carpeting, over time tile and grout will begin to fade and become discolored with the build-up of dirt and residues. Especially if the tile hasn’t been cleaned in quite a while, ordinary householder cleaners won’t get rid of all the stains, germs and bacteria that may be on those tiles and in the grout. Only rigorous cleaning by a professional tile and grout cleaner can remove long-standing dirt and restore the tiles to like-new condition. Thoroughly cleaned tiles and grout dramatically alters the appearance of a room for the better, and makes the environment cleaner and safer to inhabit. Instead of difficult scrubbing for less than satisfactory results, an expert cleaning company will use specialized machines that can penetrate deep.

How Often Should Stone Tile And Grout Be Cleaned?

There is no simple answer to this question. The length of time between professional cleanings depends on the amount of traffic on the tile floor or where the tile wall is located (for example, a busy kitchen), if there are children and pets in the house and the type of regular maintenance done. If a sealant is applied to the grout, it won’t need to be cleaned as often. Generally speaking, tile and grout cleaning for tile floors is done once every 2 to 5 years.
